Dropping the Ball
I've dropped the ball. I've let my blog go for almost two months without a post. For someone who before that was posting as much as twice a week, that really is faux pa.
Many of you, if you are even reading anymore, may ask why. In fact, I've gotten several readers, mostly fellow bloggers, who have dropped me an email, checking in. As a result, this post is an attempt to explain.
The first reason I have not posted is that the mood around the Hunahpu household has been quite somber. Julie's grandfather, about two months ago, became quite ill. In fact, he was given only months to live. As a result, we had to make an unplanned trip back east, to Philadelphia. Therefore, most of my hobbies were put on hold.
To add insult to injury, upon returning from the trip, I came down with a horrendous flu that left me bedridden for days. The aftermath to that, however, has lasted for weeks. In fact, here we are over a month later and I still have occasional coughing fits.
The third reason I have not posted is that I have not brewed anything for these past two months. It is hard to post to a brewing blog when you are not brewing. As a result, what usually happens, in those cases, is that you have to find other things to post about or you do not post at all.
That brings me to the last reason I have not posted. I felt like my last few posts have sucked. Up until the last couple of months, I felt that the quality of the blog was quite good. In fact, I have been quite proud of the high the signal to noise ratio I've kept going on this website. Unfortunately, the inspiration left me, and I found myself really reaching to find things to post about. When you are reaching for subjects to post just for the sake of posting, often times those posts suck.
With all that said, things are still not ideal. We are anticipating that we will be making another trip to Philadelphia in a matter of weeks. In preparation for this trip, I tried on my suit which I have not worn for several years. Also, Julie and one of her girlfriends went shopping for an appropriate black dress.
All is not lost on the blog, however. I'm hoping to get it back to its former glory very soon. In fact, this coming weekend, Julie and I are heading to Santa Barbara wine country. I hope that I can at least get a trip report out of that one.
Also, even though I have not brewed or tried any new beer as of late, Julie and I have been drinking some nice wine lately, in preparation for the wine country trip. As a result, I might be able to talk about what we've been drinking and why we've liked it.
In closing, I'd like the thank all the fellow bloggers that have dropped me an email during my hiatus. It has been appreciated.
